Peanut Free Football Game – It’s Coming Soon

Northwestern University is hosting its first Peanut Free Football Game this Saturday. No Peanuts in the Stands, No Peanuts on the ground. They are even pressure washing the stadium to remove any peanut residue.

With Peanut Allergies affecting 1 in 200 people, Northwestern University wanted to give this a try.

It will be interesting to see if other teams and other sports give this a try.

It sounds silly, unless you are allergic to peanuts.

Read more about this in the Chicago Tribune.

  1. As a parent of a child that reacts to specific types of peanut’s, I am happy to hear that a school cares more about people than making some extra dollars. Often its not until you experience such problems that you can fully understand how difficult of a problem this can be.

  2. Thank GOD we had enough sense to change the smoking rules years ago. The peanut change will not have the same larger society buy in but for those that it affects, this change is far more meaningful than any drinking or smoking ban that could be offered.
