College Men’s Golf News – Guilford’s Gross Lands Second ODAC Golfer of the Week Honor

FOREST, Va. – Guilford College freshman Tanner Gross (Archdale, N.C./Home School) earned his second Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Golfer of the Week Award Monday.

Gross tied for eighth with a two-over-par 215 at the 54-hole Golfweek Division III Invitational Oct. 13-15. He opened the tournament with a one-under 70 on the par-71, 6,505-yard layout. He posted a 4-over 75 in round two, but rebounded with a 1-under 70 over the final 18 holes. Gross’ efforts helped lead Guilford to a fourth-place team finish among 18 distinguished Division III teams.

After three tournaments, Gross stands second for the Quakers with a 73.25 stroke average in eight rounds. He has recorded top-10 finishes in each of his three tournaments.

Gross has helped the Quakers to a number-four ranking in the current Golf World/Nike Golf Division III Coaches’ Poll. Fourth-year coach Corey Maggard’s Quakers are rated fifth in the current Golfstat.com Division III Head-to-Head Standings. Gross and his teammates compete Oct. 28-29 at the O’Briant-Jenson Memorial at Sedgefield Country Club- Dye Course.
