GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College’s Taylor Whitley (China Grove, N.C./Jesse C. Carson) had 29 assists and just missed a triple-double in the Quakers’ 25-22, 25-10, 25-18 volleyball win over Salem College Thursday. The victory gives Guilford (12-14) a sweep of the season series with the Spirits (6-14).

Whitley, a senior setter, also had eight kills, nine digs and five service aces in a solid all-around effort. She had four kills and eight assist in the first set, which saw Guilford rally from a 19-15 deficit. Fellow senior Brittany Freeman had eight kills and 14 digs. Libero Meredith Foscue (Asheboro, N.C./Asheboro), the fourth of four Guilford seniors honored prior to the game, scooped up a match-best 21 digs.

Roslyn Nixon’s 10 kills led Salem. Setter Chelsea Jones added 21 assists, two service aces and 10 digs in a scrappy match. Chanice Williams added six kills and Zy Henderson chipped in with 19 digs.
