High School Football Saturday Morning rewind:With just two weeks left in the season, it is getting tighter

You take a look at the standings and you will see that many of these high school football races are going right down to the wire….

With the loss by Northwest Guilford, the Piedmont Triad 4-A race is getting tighter than ever….NWG with one conference loss, HP Central has a loss and East Forsyth has lost one game….That should put all three teams at (2-1) in the PTC with just two goes to go….

The Metro 4-A is shaping up to be a two horse race with a third horse at the barn stall waiting to kick down the door….Dudley and Southeast Guilford are both (3-0) and Page is at (2-1)…Page at Dudley this week and if Page goes in and upsets unbeaten Dudley and then if Dudley went down and defeated Southeast Guilford you could have three teams sitting at (4-1) at 10:30pm on November 8….

Makes for some good possible finishes to this 2013 high school football regular season…Back at the PTC 4-A, NWG has Southwest Guilford coming up next and the Vikings close with East Forsyth….HP Central has already faced both East and NWG and they split with those two….

Could be some more upsets, we will just have to keep it at GreensboroSports.com as the football keeps turning, end-over-end….Another thing that makes it interesting is that we see Glenn in the picture, as the Bobcats are also at 2-1 in the PTC 4-A…And the plot thickens with Glenn at High Point Central this coming Friday night…

A detailed look at the races and maybe not a novel idea, but with the help from MaxPreps.com, I think it is a good fit here….

+++++As we rewind and exhale on this Saturday morning, another thing I have been giving some thought to, is how the MVP races will shape up around the leagues….In the Metro 4-A you have a boat load to look at with Emmanuel Moseley(Dudley), Shakir Turner(Southeast Guilford), Jalen Gavin(Page), Johnathan Lloyd(Southern Alamance), Chris Register(Dudley) and more….Got to see both Turner and Lloyd last night, and had seen Turner before and he is a very tough runner and Lloyd is one of those total package kind of guys, slick and sleek, with lots of moves and cuts and he has a good arm too…Plenty of talent on this list and sure to be more out there too….

And what about that game Antonio Moore from SEG had last night…TD runs, TD reception from Bubba Craven and TD on a kickoff return…Moore was doing more than some may do in a season and he did it in one night….62-44 SEG and who set that over-under at 100? Kind of heavy on the offense last night and nothing wrong with that…Who needs a dadburn shutout, when you can get a shootout???

Other conference MVP candidates on the table could well be Jamiel Mack(High Point Central), Germaine Pratt(HP Central), Christian Dix(Northwest Guilford), Rick Mack(Southwest Guilford). Reggie Gallaspy(Southern Guilford), Austin Coltrane(Northern Guilford), Marquell Cartwright(High Point Andrews), Lamar Raynard(High Point Andrews) and there will be more…..*****

With so much in here today, I thought we would add some more….

  1. Really hs fan? I guess 42 to 64 is a “defensive gem”. What would you call it if not a shootout?

  2. It became a shootout late in the game when SEG went to their reserves and Southern Alamance still had the first unit lead by Lloyd in there…

Two-touchdown game right before the half at 36-21….

  3. Moore had 8 carries for 87 yds and a TD. 2 catches for 90 yards and a TD. 1 return for 85 yards and a TD. 11 total touches for 262 yards and 3 TD’s. Not too shabby for a soph. Will be nice to watch McThay, Moore, Jennings, and a number of other young backs working together for years to come. SE is enjoying the season, but have a lot of areas to keep getting better. Will have to be better on both sides of the ball against Grimsley next week. Hope the Falcons can keep getting better over the next couple weeks and then heading into the post season! Go Falcons!

  4. Really not impressed with s.e.g an really think they don’t have a chance in two weeks against dudley its hard to run the ball on them kids over there an with no passing game its gonna be hard an seg defence is not that good now to take anything away from them an a good season but dudley in a class of its own

  5. Does Dudley have a game this week? (Page) Right now SE is focused on Grimsley. That’s how you coach. Since Dudley is so good, maybe they will just rest their starters against SE and prepare for the playoffs. Please continue to convince you team that it won’t be a game. Just what we want. Well the Page game will be a gimmie too. Right caoch Geliepsy?

  6. The coaches and players at Dudley are focused on Page right now. We will begin to focus on SE on sat. morning. We know that Page and SE have great teams and we are getting prepared.

  7. No one at 1200 Lincoln St. gives a flyin’ flip about SE, not in years past or right now……we get PAGE at home this week!! Nite fellas…..

  8. wow you guys act as if you coach im sure the coaches are taking it one game at a time but us fans like to hype big games up early.. dudley is gonna beat page just like they gonna do your falcons! southeast is still a one trick pony with a pop warner offence!

  9. Pop Warner offense? You run a system that is built for your kids. Trust me the wing T system is a lot tougher to run than lining up in the spread snapping the ball to your QB and tell him to run around and make plays! If anything dudley’s offense is a pop warner offense!
