Greensboro College Pride Volleyball Splits USA South Matches

The Greensboro College Pride volleyball team split a pair of USA South matches on the road on Saturday afternoon. In the first match of the day, The Pride defeated Meredith 3-1 before falling the Methodist 3-1 in the final match of the afternoon.

In the first match of the day, The Pride won 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-20, 25-19). In the match, Greensboro got 19 kills from Liz Widenhouse, while Holley Anders added 14 kills. Cortland Phillips passed for a match high 39 assists, while Carissa McCumber added 24 digs for Greensboro.

In the last match of the day, The Pride fell to Methodist by a 3-1 score (25-18, 25-19, 15-25, 25-22). Greensboro College was led in the match by Megan Baranko with 14 kills, while Widenhouse contributed 12 kills. Phillips passed for 36 assists, while McCumber and Anders added 16 digs.

With the split, The Pride moves to 13-19 overall on the season, and 9-10 in USA South. The Pride will return to action next weekend when the travel to Martinsville, VA for the 2013 USA South Conference Volleyball Tournament.
