Kelva Atkins led the team with 16 points, while Brie Mobley also scored in double figures with 12 points. Second-year Seahawk head coach Adell Harris returns only one starter and three letterwinners from last year’s team. All of UNCW’s active players are either freshmen or sophomores.

The Series
Wednesday will mark the seventh overall meeting between Elon and UNCW with each team owning three victories. Last year, the Phoenix claimed a 67-61 win in Alumni Gym after Shon Redmond tied an Elon record with 10 steals in the game. Sam Coffer hauled down a team-high 10 boards and seven points in the win.

Coach’s Connection
Phoenix assistant coach Emily Roberts will be on familiar ground Wednesday at UNCW. Roberts played for the Seahawks from 2002-2005, appearing in 27 games in her final season, while scoring 94 points, tallying 48 assists and 16 steals.

Season Openers
Elon’s win over Winston-Salem State in its season opener improved the Phoenix to 27-17 all-time in season openers. The maroon and gold is 19-4 when opening the season at home and has won the last five of those games.

Rookie Debut
Lauren Brown was impressive in her collegiate debut on Friday against the Rams of Winston-Salem State. Recording a start in her first game as a Phoenix, the Alpharetta, Ga., native scored 10 points after going 4-for-8 from the field.

(Soon to Be) Familiar Opponents
The Phoenix and the Seahawks will be seeing a lot more of each other beginning next season when Elon joins the Colonial Athletic Association.
