Elon’s Women’s Basketball’s Coffer Named SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANGBURG, S.C. – Elon women’s basketball’s Sam Coffer has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today, Nov. 13. Coffer is the second Elon student-athlete to receive this honor this year.

Coffer posted a double-double in Elon’s win over Winston-Salem State last week. The junior scored 14 points and posted a new career high with 14 rebounds. She went 3-for-6 from the field to shoot 50 percent and sank two threes to shoot 67 percent from beyond the arc. At the charity stripe, she knocked down six of her seven attempts fro an 86 percent mark from the line. The Greensboro, N.C., native also dished out four assists, recorded two blocks and one steal. Coffer currently holds a 3.98 GPA in biochemistry.

Elon will face UNC Wilmington tonight at 7 p.m. in Wilmington, N.C., in its second game of the season.
