• The Phoenix has three running backs – B.J. Bennett, Karl Bostick and Tracey Coppedge – who have each rushed for over 300 yards this year. As a team, Elon has run for 1,406 yards and 10 touchdowns after rushing for just 936 yards and four scores a year ago.
• Linebacker Jonathan Spain tallied 12 tackles against Georgia Southern on Saturday, upping his career total to 238. Spain rates sixth on the program’s NCAA Division I tackles chart.
• Elon will close the 2013 season on the road against the Samford Bulldogs in Birmingham, Ala. The maroon and gold is 7-4 all-time against the Bulldogs.
Men’s Basketball (2-1)

• Elon opens the 2013 NIT Season Tip-Off tonight at 5 p.m. when it takes on Drexel inside the Rutgers Athletic Center.
• The Phoenix is off to a 2-1 start to the season following a pair of wins against Washington & Lee and Marist and a setback in its last game at Charlotte.
• On Tuesday, Elon will either face Canisius at 5 p.m. or Rutgers at 7:30 p.m. The winner of the North Pod advances to the NIT Season Tip-Off semifinals at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Listen to the game live on WPCM 95.1 FM/920 AM.
Men’s Soccer (15-4-2)
NCAA Selection Show, Monday, Nov. 18, at 11:45 a.m., Walker Room in the Alumni Field house
• The Elon men’s soccer team will learn its fate in the upcoming NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship on Monday, Nov. 18, when the NCAA airs its annual selection show at noon. Phoenix head coach Darren Powell, his staff and select players will gather in the Alumni Field House Walker Room around 11:45 a.m. prior to the noon selection show on NCAA.com. Fans and media members are invited to attend.
• The Phoenix captured its third straight Southern Conference Tournament title on Sunday, Nov. 17, with a 1-0 double-overtime win over Wofford in Greenville, S.C. Jason Waterman scored the golden goal to give the maroon and gold its third straight NCAA berth. Waterman, Charles Howard, Daniel Lovitz and Nick Butterly were each selected to the All-Tournament team with Waterman taking home the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player accolade.
• The victory was also career win number 94 for Elon head coach Darren Powell at the school making him the all-time winningest coach in program history.
Volleyball (16-16)
Southern Conference Tournament
#8 Elon vs. #1 Georgia Southern, Friday, Nov. 22, at 12:30 a.m., Greenville, N.C.
• Elon will make its fourth straight appearance in the Southern Conference Volleyball Tournament when it faces Georgia Southern on Friday in the quarterfinals.
• The Phoenix is the eighth seed, while the Eagles are the number one overall seed in the tournament. Elon and GSU have already met twice this season with the Eagles taking wins in both matches.
• Last week, Ally Karle was named the SoCon Freshman of the Week after hitting .406, averaging 4.25 kills and 1.12 blocks per set.
Women’s Basketball (2-1)
Elon vs. East Carolina, Saturday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m., Alumni Gym
• Elon picked up a 75-64 win at UNC Wilmington last week before recording its first loss of the season at VCU on Sunday.
• The Phoenix had three players post double-doubles last week. Kelsey Harris (16 points and 10 assists) and Jenifer Rhodes (12 points and 10 rebounds) recorded theirs at UNCW, while Sam Coffer scored 18 points and had 10 boards at VCU.
• Harris’ 10 assists were the most by any player since 2009. Harris is averaging 7.7 assists per game and only 1.3 turnovers.
