Kernodle Middle School Boys Basketball:

The 2013-14 Kernodle Middle School Boys’ Basketball team is coming off a 10-3 season; including a second place finish in league play. This year’s squad is considerably younger as eight of the twelve members graduated to high school. KMS will be led this season by returning starter Tre Turner. He is a 6’2 multi-dimensional talent who can play any position on the floor. His leadership will be equally important; especially with this season’s less-experienced personnel. Joining Turner is returning bench-player Jacob Leonard. This two-sport athlete (football/basketball) will also carry leadership responsibilities as he moves into the starting line-up. Joining Turner and Leonard is a slew of seventh graders including Tristan Perry and Jeremiah Wilson. Both have considerable experience playing for competitive AAU programs, and will also be called upon to make valuable contributions.

Although somewhat younger and less experienced than last season, KMS has upgraded their non-conference schedule to include Mendenhall, Allen, and Aycock Middle Schools. As second year coach Barry Friedman states, “Teaching our kids what it means to compete will be this year’s re-occurring theme. If we can enter each practice and game with a competitive mindset, I envision us having a great season.”
