Greensboro College Men’s Basketball Pride Fall to Division I UNCG 92-62

GREENSBORO NC — The Greensboro College Pride men’s basketball team dropped their second game in a row to Division I UNCG by a final score of 92-62 on Wednesday night.

In the first half of play, the Spartans jumped out to an early 6-0 lead before The Pride went on an 8-0 run to give Greensboro their first lead of the game at 8-6 with 17 minutes remaining in the half. Jermaine Bates and Damian Dixon hit back to back three pointers followed by a pair free throws from Dixon during the run to give The Pride the lead for the first time. After the Greensboro run, UNCG would pull out to and nine point lead and would not increase for the remainder of the half, with The Pride trailing by eight heading in to the break at 40-32.

After the break, it would be all UNCG as they would out score The Pride by 22 points pulling away for the 92-62 victory.

Coming off the bench for The Pride Jacob Thomas came in firing from long range converting on five of his seven shot from behind the arc, leading the team in the game with 15 points. Damian Dixon contributed 11 points as well in the game. Raheem Martin Will Griffin, and Jermaine Bates led the way for Greensboro, collecting five rebounds apiece.

Following the game, Head Coach Bryan Galuski had this to say, “I am extremely proud of the way our guys played tonight. They came in and fought in the game for the full forty minutes and we still have some areas to improve on but overall I am extremely proud of their efforts not backing down.”
