College Men’s Cross Country Results – Guilford’s Norton Earns All-America Honor at D3 National Championships

HANOVER, Ind. – Guilford College senior Chad Norton (Walled Lake, Mich./Walled Lake) became the school’s first cross country All-American Saturday by virtue of his 26th-place finish at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships. The top-35 individual finishers received All-America recognition from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association.

Making his third NCAA Championships appearance, Norton completed the eight-kilometer course at the L.S. Ayres Complex in 25 minutes, 14 seconds.

Senior teammate Andris Goncarovs (Ithaca, N.Y./Lehman Alternative Community School) narrowly missed All-America honors as he placed 43rd in a time of 25:29.6, just over five seconds over the 35th-place time.

Guilford senior David Cason (Clemmons, N.C./West Forsyth) overcame cramping early in the race to finish 173rd with a time of 26:25 in his first national championship appearance.
