Greensboro College Men’s Basketball Falls to Bridgewater 73-56

ROANOKE, VA—The Greensboro College Pride men’s basketball team dropped their third straight contest of the season to the Eagles of Bridgewater on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 73-56.

In the first half, The Pride went on a 5-0 run to start out the game before Bridgewater came back with a run of their own to take an early 9-7 lead in the game. In the 5-0 run for The Pride Will Griffin provided three of those points in a 50 second span while Tracy Jester tallied the other two.

After the Eagles took the early lead, both teams traded baskets with neither team able to get the edge until Greensboro opened a five point lead at 29-24 with six minutes remaining in the half. Down the stretch of the first half, the teams had four ties, and two lead changes as Bridgewater took a narrow 35-32 lead into the half.

As the second half started, Bridgewater came out hot extending their lead to five at 37-32 and The Pride would not get any closer for the remainder of the game. Greensboro tried all they could to try to regain their composure in the game but fell by the final score of 73-56.

Greensboro College was led on the day by Will Griffin who contributed team high 11 points, while Devan Gregory added 10 points on the day. The Pride held a slight 40-36 advantage on the boards, with Jermaine Bates collecting a team high seven boards in the game. Jacob Thomas and Edric Roberts also pulled down six rebounds apiece.

With the loss, Greensboro falls to 2-3 on the young season. Greensboro will return to action on Monday November 25 when they travel back to Roanoke to take on the Maroons of Roanoke. Game time is set for a 7:00 tip.
