SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced today, Nov. 26, that Elon women’s basketball rookie Lauren Brown has been named the CRONS Freshman of the Week. This is the second straight week a Phoenix player has earned this honor.
Brown led the Phoenix last week with a career-high 17 points against East Carolina. Despite a loss, the freshman shot 50 percent from the field after connecting on a career-high 6-of-12 shots. Brown also went 5-of-7 from the charity stripe to record a 71 percent free throw percentage. The Alpharetta, Ga., native also tallied two steals and two assists in the game against the Pirates.
Elon will travel to Nashville, Tenn., this week for the Vanderbilt Thanksgiving Tournament. The Phoenix will face the Commodores on Friday, Nov. 29, at 4 p.m. and either Wisconsin or Mercer on Saturday, Nov. 30.
