Marvin Webster Invitational at Ben L. Smith High School:Smith boys 103 – Butler 91

Marvin Webster Invitational

The 2013 Marvin Webster Invitational will be held TODAY/TONIGHT at Ben L. Smith High School. The purpose of this event is to raise funds for a scholarship that is given every year to a deserving student. The scholarship is named after Marvin Webster, a standout student athlete at Smith High School in the mid 90’s. Webster helped lead Smith to the 1995 state championship game. Upon graduation, Webster attended Temple University on a basketball scholarship. Webster passed away from a fatal heart condition entering his sophomore year. This event has made it possible to give a scholarship in his name for the past 15 years.

This years event will consist of four games. Two girls games and two boys games.
1pm Reidsville vs Lee County (Girls)
3pm Reidsville vs Lee County (Boys)
5pm Butler vs Smith (Girls)
7pm Butler vs Smith (Boys)

Notes:
Lee County is lead by Webster’s former coach and Smith’s former Head Coach Reggie Peace.
Butler’s best player Matthew Fisher-Davis is committed to Vanderbilt.

  1. I absolutely love your blog and find most of your post’s to be precisely what
I’m looking for. can you offer guest writers to write content available for you?
I wouldn’t mind writing a post or elaborating on a lot of the subjects you write with regards to here.
    Again, awesome website!

  2. I think they were saying somewhere that it is $5.00 to get in, not exactly sure, but that is a guesstimation…

  3. I did not see the game but is Smith that good to score over 100 pts or is this a reflection of the new rule changes opening up the lane for guards?
