Local College Football Today:Winston-Salem State at Shepherd College in West Virginia in NCAA DII Playoffs Round Two

There are no other local college football games that we know of today, but the Winston-Salem State Rams take their men to Shepherd University in West Virginia to face the Rams, in Round Two of the NCAA DII football playoffs….The kickoff is set for 12 Noon…Good luck to all the locals on the Rams squad and epecially to that young freshman kicker, Will Johnson, from High Point Central High School…’Little Will’ will be up in West Virginia doing the kickoffs, kicking extra points and punting, while his sister ‘Little Taylor’ Johnson will be down in Alabama watching Alabama and Auburn fight it out in the ‘Iron Bowl’….

#4 WSSU Rams vs #1 Shepherd Rams Game Day!
The (#9 AFCA, #4 Regional Ranking) Winston-Salem State University Rams (10-1) will look to continue on their quest to return to Florence, Ala., for the DII National Championship game, as they prepare for the 2nd round of the NCAA DII Playoffs, when they travel to Shepherdstown, WV to take on (#6 AFCA, #1 Regional Ranking) Shepherd University (10-0). Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. at Ram Stadium on the Shepherd campus.

The winner of this game will face the winner of the West Chester/Bloomsburg game for the Regional Final.

“Shepherd is a very good football team, who plays physical, tackles wells, and are extremely well coached”, says head coach Connell Maynor.

“We tend to play well on the road, so I think we are going to go up there and have a good showing, and hopefully come out on the winning end.”

Shepherd enters the Playoffs as the #1 seed in Super Region One, thus earning a first round bye, and hosting the WSSU Rams. The Shepherd Rams are winners of the Mountain East Conference.

The Series

The contest will be the first ever meeting on the gridiron between the two NCAA DII member schools.
