Familiar foes squared off tonight in High Point as the Raiders of T.W. Andrews came over to the Ranch to play the Cowboys of Southwest. The Raiders were unable to knock off the Cowboys either time they faced them last season and were hoping to change the outcome this time around, while the Cowboys were looking to keep things rolling coming off a substantial victory last night. Southwest has owned this city rivalry in the last 5 years, winning the last 6 in a row with the average margin of victory at 15 points, with their last loss coming back in 2009. The Raiders came out scrapping and fighting each possession with the opening quarter going back and forth with the neither team going up by more then 4, and ultimately the Cowboys took a 15-12 lead at the horn. The second stanza opened up with the Cowboys having a little bit of momentum gaining the largest lead of the game to that point at 21-16. Andrews responded well by taking advantage of 4 straight Cowboy turnovers and gained the momentum back. But a frantic final 30 seconds of the half got the Cowboys back up going into the break at 29-27. For the third straight game, the second half was when the depth of the Cowboys really helped the Cowboys seize control of the game. Southwest scored early and pushed the lead up to double digits and kept the margin hovering 10 throughout the frame and the quarter ended at 55-45. The final quarter was more Cowboys as the lead got up to as many 14, but the Red Raiders kept clawing and tried to keep it a game, but ultimately the final margin was 71-61 in favor of the Cowboys. The Red Raiders were led by Marquez Welch with 21 and Chris Eatmon with 20. Southwest was paced by KJ Langley (16, 2 Reb, 2 Ast, 2 Stl), and DJ Chamblee who had a double double with 15 and 12 Rebs, 4 Ast, and 2 Stls.
