The Page Pirates (6-0) remain undefeated behind senior guard Jeremy Harris’ game-high 25 points against Southwest Guilford (3-2) on Tuesday night, with an 87-67 final.

“We just played as a team, and I just hit my open shots,” said Harris. “We also played hard defense and rebounded well.”

In the first quarter SW was down by 7 points before battling back to a 23-17 lead after scoring twice by intercepting two lazy passes by Page guards. SW led 25-19 at the end of the first quarter.

“I thought we came together good in the first quarter,” said SW junior wing Ben Ferguson. “

Junior guard Anthony Eaves opened the second quarter by hitting a deep three from the right-wing to push Page within three points. Harris would follow that with a back-door slam.

“Anthony Eaves really helped me out tonight and Jeremy Harris, he is our X-factor,” said Page sophomore guard Ty Graves.

Following an uncontested lay-up by junior guard KJ Langley, sophomore guard Ty Graves would do the same.

On the very next possession for SW, sophomore forward Jalen Seegars came up with a steal and an alley-oop pass to Harris for a monster throw-down that gave Page a 28-27 lead with five minutes remaining in the second quarter.

“Just playing together and stopping people, that is the biggest thing,” said Graves. “We just came together and got out to their three-point shooters because they got hot for a second. “

Throughout the second quarter, Page did what they do best: Run. Graves converted on another uncontested coast-to-coast layup as Page took a 42-35 lead into the locker room at the half.

Junior guard Tyliek Brister blew past Eaves for the lefty finish to open the third quarter. Graves answered by hitting a 3-pointer on the other end.

Later in the third, Seegars’ slam in transition pushed Page’s lead to double-digits, 53-42.

“I thought we were resilient all night,” said Fergueson. “It’s hard to stop when you have a 6’5, 6’6 and 6’7 out there protecting the paint.”

Page’s defense contested every shot by sharp-shooter Ferguson. He led the way for SW with 14 points.

“I’m not too worried about my performance,” said Ferguson. “They wore us out. All the credit goes to Page.”

“We just tried to identify Ferguson everywhere,” said Graves. “We backed off KJ, but he can shoot. We just tried to keep him out of the paint. We want teams to remember us as a defensive team, not giving anything up easily.”

The fourth quarter belonged to Harris. He went on a 7-0 run with two lefty layups and a 3-pointer from the wing.

“I didn’t even notice what I did,” said Harris. “I was just playing hard being a good teammate.”

This caused for a timeout by SW as they found themselves down by 15 points, 67-52, with 5:30 remaining in the game.

After a block by Graves, Harris streaked up the court for his fourth dunk of the night as Page took a commanding lead 75-57 in the final couple minutes of the game.

“Ty played great tonight handling the ball, along with awesome defense,” said Harris.

SW senior guard DJ Chamblee finished with 12 points and Langley with 6 on a poor shooting night.

“We’re fine, we’re not worried,” said Ferguson. “We’re going to do this collectively. Greensboro Day is coming up next Friday and Andrews on Tuesday at High Point University.”

Graves ended the night with 17 points, sophomore forward Diondre Overton with 16 and senior wing Cedric Banks with 14.

“If we continue to play hard and together, we will achieve greatness,” said Ty.
