ELON, N.C. — First-year Elon men’s golf head coach Don Hill today announced that he has signed Jake Leavitt (Woodstock, Md./Mount Saint Joseph High) for the 2014-15 school year.

“We are thrilled to have Jake join our program here at Elon University,” said Hill. “Jake possesses all the qualities we look for in a student and an athlete. He has achieved at the highest level, both in the classroom and on the golf course, including a couple of big wins this year. I am glad Jake chose Elon and I look forward to him having a good career here.”

Leavitt is the top-ranked golfer in the state of Maryland by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and the Polo Golf Rankings. The Polo Golf Rankings place Leavitt 121st nationally. In the past year, Leavitt claimed medalist honors at the American Junior Golf Association’s (AJGA) AJGA Annapolis Junior, the 2013 Junior PGA Championship Section Qualifier – Middle Atlantic and the Maryland Amateur. Leavitt placed fourth out of 106 participants at the JoS. A. Bank / David Leadbetter Championship in August. In 2012, Leavitt finished second in the Maryland Junior Boys Championship.

Leavitt’s performance on the links has helped Mike Dooley’s Mount Saint Joseph squad to a 2012 MIAA A league title as well as conference finals appearances in both 2011 and 2012. He collected all-league accolades in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and was a 2012 AJGA Scholastic All-American.

Jake is the son of Jeff and Dionne Leavitt.
