Game Report/Pictures: Southwest Guilford vs Greensboro Day Boys Basketball

In day 2 of the KMC Shootout the Cowboys of Southwest squared off against the Bengals of Greensboro Day. Both teams came into tonight’s contest off of easy victories the night before.

The game opened up with a Bengal run, going up 8-0. Uncharacteristic turnovers, and poor shooting doomed the Cowboys in the opening frame as Greensboro Day seized control at 20-9.

The second quarter was the same story as the Bengals out hustled the passive Cowboys, and the at the break the tally was 36-17 in favor of Greensboro Day.

The second half was a different story however. The Cowboys came out and showed some aggression and passion for the first time all night and jumped all over the Bengals and forced them to make decisions. The Cowboys seemed to have all the momentum and cut the deficit to 60-50.

The energy tank seemed zapped, as the final frame just couldn’t get any more traction for the Cowboys. Every time SW would put a few baskets together, the Bengals responded. Eventually the Cowboys ran out of time, and the Bengals hit free-throws down the stretch, taking the final tally to 77-62.

Southwest was led by Ben Ferguson with 14 (Including 4 3’s in 3rd), 7 Rebs, and KJ Langley with 12, 2 Ast. Greensboro Day was led by Peter Agba 22.
