Western Guilford Staff hosts SE Guilford Staff in Fundraising Basketball Game

Greensboro, NC,— Western Guilford will host a staff basketball game against Southeast High on Saturday, January 18th in the main gym. Tipoff is scheduled for 5pm. All funds raised will go towards the effort to help offset the medical expenses of retired athletic director Jim Clontz.

Coach Clontz served as a teacher, coach and athletic director at both schools until retiring in the fall of 2012 due to health issues. Clontz underwent lung transplant surgery this past November and is currently finishing up rehabilitation at Duke.

“We were looking for a way to help raise money for Coach Clontz. I believe this event will allow his former colleagues, students and players an opportunity to show their appreciation,” said event coordinator Shaun Abernathy. “I hope both school communities come out and make this a memorable event.”

Cost of admission is $5 and donations will be taken up at the door. If you would like to send a donation into the school please contact event coordinator Shaun Abernathy at 336-316-5800 (abernas@gcsnc.com).
