The Cowboys of Southwest hit the road tonight to open up their Conference schedule against the Bobcats of Glenn High School. Both teams came into tonight’s contest on winning streaks, with Glenn at 2, and Southwest with 6. Another significant streak at stake tonight was the Cowboys’ unbeaten streak within the Conference. Southwest’s last loss against the Bobcats dates back to January of 2012. The Cowboys have won the last 5 match-ups including 2 postseason games. Which teams’ streak would end tonight?

The game opened up with a Cowboys basket which was quickly answered by the Bobcats. On the next Southwest possession, a single free-throw gave them a lead at 3-2, which they would hold for the rest of the night. From there the Cowboys got it up to 9-4, then it was 17-9. The Bobcats clawed back making it 17-16 thanks to 3 straight sloppy turnovers by the Cowboys. Southwest was able to regroup and finish the opening quarter well, taking a 24-18 lead.

The second frame was when the Cowboys were able to assert themselves and put some separation on the scoreboard. An active, scrappy defense held Glenn to 7 points in the frame as the lead was 40-25 headed into the break.

The third quarter had the lead balloon to over 20, and finally settled at 63-44.

The final quarter had the Bobcats make a furious attempt to get back into the game, even cutting the lead to 71-60 at the 3:06 mark. Southwest however, was able to regain and maintain control in the final 3 minutes of the game and took it 81-66.

Glenn was led by Arrington Gray with 14 Points. Southwest was led by KJ Langley with 19, 2 Stl, Arjun Patel with 13, 2 Stls, Tyliek Brister with 11, 4 Rebs, 3 Stl, 2 Ast, and Ben Ferguson with 10, 10 Reb, 2 Blk. The Cowboys move on to 12-3 on the year.
