Dynamo MF, Danny Lovitz Selected by Toronto FC in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft

Philadelphia, PA: Today was selected as part of Major League Soccer’s SuperDraft being held at the NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia, PA. Lovitz was selected as the 24th overall pick by the Toronto FC. Lovitz becomes the 78th Dynamo player been drafted by a Major League Soccer team,since the inaugural draft took place in 1996. 25 of today’s 38 players drafted have PDL experience. The remaining two rounds of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft will take place on Tuesday, January 21st. Dynamo MF, Alex Martinez from NC State is expected to be drafted then.

This past Dynamo season Lovitz, hampered by injuries saw action in sevenmatches, notching one assist. During his1st season (2012) with the Dynamo, Lovitz 16 games scoring one goalwith five assists, playing an integral part of the Dynamos run to the PDLFinals. This past season at Elon, Lovitz was named Conference Player of theYear and 1st team All-South Region after leading the Phoenix to aSoCon Championship on four goals and six assists. As a junior at Elon, Danny started 22matches, scoring three goals with two assists for the SoCon Champs. During his first two years at Elon, Lovitzstarted 34 of 40 matches, notching two goals while assisting on another eight,and earned SoCon All-Freshman team honors. Lovitz helped lead Germantown Academy to twoInter-Academic League championships in 2006 and 2009 and was namedall-conference as a senior. His LowerMerion Velez club team captured state cup titles in 2004 and 2008, as well asRegion I/Region I Premier League championships in 2008 and finished third atthe 2009 National Championships.

The Premier Development League www.uslsoccer.com(PDL) is the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid that begins with MajorLeague Soccer, which boasts some 74 teams for the 2012 season and spans acrossthe US into both Bermuda & Canada.
