Elon Football Adds Two Transfers

ELON, N.C. — Elon football head coach Rich Skrosky has announced the additions of two transfer student-athletes to the Phoenix’s 2014 roster. Both defensive back Chris Blair (Winston-Salem, N.C./Ball State University) and defensive lineman Marquise Wright (Englewood, N.J./Rutgers University) have enrolled at Elon.

Blair (5-11 and 205 pounds) will be a red-shirt freshman following one season at Ball State. Blair played his prep ball at East Forsyth High School for coach Todd Willert, helping the team to a 28-10 record during his career. During Blair’s senior season, East Forsyth went 13-1 and advanced to the state semifinals. That season he served as a team captain, collected all-state, all-county and All-Northwest accolades and was invited to participate in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas. A two-time all-league honoree, Blair was named the league’s defensive player of the year as a senior. Blair amassed 92 tackles and picked off five passes in his final campaign at East Forsyth. He posted 210 tackles and nine interceptions during his prep career.

Christopher Ja’Quise Blair is the son of Reginald Hunter and Crystal Blair.

Wright (6-3 and 285 pounds) will have two seasons of eligibility remaining for the Phoenix. Wright red-shirted at Rutgers in 2011 and played in one contest in both 2012 and 2013. Prior to heading to Rutgers, Wright was a two-way lineman for coach Chris Partridge at Paramus Catholic High School. As a senior he tallied 52 tackles, including 19 for a loss, and forced two fumbles. That year he posted 8.5 sacks. Rated a four-star recruit by both Scout.com and Rivals.com, Wright earned All-Bergen County First Team honors by both the Star-Ledger and the Bergen Record. Rivals.com listed Wright as the 14th-best defensive tackle in the nation, the fourth-ranked recruit in New Jersey and the No. 149 overall recruit nationally. He was also a Rivals250 team member. ESPN.com ranked Wright as the No. 31 defensive tackle in the nation whileSuperPrep Magazine tabbed him the 14th-rated prospect in New Jersey coming out of high school.

Marquise Donte’ Wright is the son of Regina Spearman.
