ELON, N.C. — New Elon head football coach Rich Skrosky has filled one of the final two positions on his staff with the hiring of former Rutgers University offensive line coach Damian Wroblewski as the Phoenix’s offensive coordinator. Wroblewski will also tutor the Elon offensive line.
Wroblewski comes to Elon following a two-year stint as the offensive line coach at Rutgers. In his first season with the Scarlet Knights, Wroblewski’s unit helped the team rush for 100 or more yards in eight outings and allowed just eight sacks all season, the eighth-best mark in the nation. That same year, Rutgers claimed a share of the Big East Conference title and appeared in the Russell Sports Bowl. This year, the offense ran for 100 or more yards seven times and twice eclipsed the 200-yard mark on the ground. In the past two seasons, Wroblewski’s line has seen two players earn all-conference accolades. The Rutgers offense saw two of its players selected in the 2013 NFL Draft – running back Juwan Jamison and tight end D.C. Jefferson.
Before heading to Rutgers, Wroblewski spent five seasons as the offensive line coach at the University of Delaware where he also was the assistant head coach for four years. While at Delaware, he also served as the recruiting coordinator and the run game coordinator. In 2011, Wroblewski’s line helped the Blue Hens run for 165.5 yards per game. His work with the offense in 2010 helped UD to a 12-3 record, a share of the CAA Football title and a trip to the national title game. The Blue Hens also reached the national title game in 2007. At Delaware, Wroblewski mentored three All-Americans. He also worked with future NFL linemen Gino Gradkowski, Rich Beverly and Shea Allard.
Wroblewski began his coaching career at Bryant College (1999-2001), serving as the offensive coordinator, offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. He has also spent time as the offensive line coach at the University of Pennsylvania (2002-03), Hofstra University (2004-05) and Stony Brook (2006). In his time at Penn, Wroblewski mentored current New York Jets offensive lineman Willie Colon won a Super Bowl title with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
A four-year member of the Lafayette College football team as a center, Wroblewski was a two-time All-Patriot League selection and earned the team’s Stony Jones Award as the team MVP as a senior. He earned his degree in history in 1999.
Wroblewski and his wife, Kara, have one son, Damian, Jr.
