HARRISONBURG, Va. – Guilford lost a heartbreaker in double-overtime to Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) leader Eastern Mennonite, 72-67, Saturday afternoon.

The Quakers (13-4, 5-3 ODAC) twice hit late baskets to force an extra period but they came up just short in the second overtime.

With 52 seconds remaining in regulation, Gabby Oglesby hit a layup to forge a 52-52 tie. It was the first points by Guilford in 2:40, as they had three missed shots, a turnover and a miss on the front end of a 1-and-1 in the final minutes.

In the first overtime the Royals built a quick four-point lead but the Quakers battled back. Kayla Adams hit a three-point basket as time expired to force a second overtime session.

But a couple of quick threes by Eastern Mennonite in the second overtime was too much for Guilford to overcome.

Adams led the Quakers with 19 points and Oglesby contributed a double-double, with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Brittany Drew gave Guilford three players in double digits with 10 points.

Eastern Mennonite (13-4, 7-1 ODAC) was led by Jess Rheinheimer, who came off the bench to score a game-high 21 points. Rheinheimer hit four shots from behind the arc, as the Royals held an 8-2 edge in three-point baskets.

Guilford returns to action Wednesday night as it hosts ODAC rival Randolph in a game slated to tip at 5:30 pm.
