College Track and Field Results – Guilford Competes at Hilton Garden Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Guilford College’s track and field teams competed at the non-scoring Hilton Garden Innvitational Friday and Saturday at the JDL Fast Track. The large meet featured many teams from all NCAA divisions, as well as NAIA institutions.

Tess Stryk highlighted Guilford’s women’s performances with the second-fastest 400-meter dash time in school history. She placed 82nd among 90 runners in a time of one minute, 8.01 seconds, less than a second in front of teammate Jasmine O’Neill, who crossed in 1:08.76, fourth-fastest in school history.

Stryk and O’Neill both ran legs on the Quakers’ 4×400 relay that placed 22nd among 25 teams Saturday in 4:39.97, less than a quarter of a second off the school record set Jan. 19.

Rachel Flint and Rebecca Reyna also ran on the 4×400 team. Reyna ran the third-fastest 3,000-meter time in Guilford history Friday with 12:08.02. She placed 40th in the 41-woman field, third among Division III contestants.

Chad Norton ran the third-fastest mile at Guilford with a 4:27.39 that ranked 24th in Saturday’s 67-man race. He had the second-fastest Division III team and was nine spots in front of teammate Andris Goncarovs. Norton was 18th in Friday’s 3,000-meter race in 8:52.73, the seventh-best time in school history.

Goncarovs had the second-fastest Division III time in Friday’s 5,000 meters where he placed 18th among 32 runners in 15:57.78.

Coach Danny Cash’s teams will compete next weekend (Feb. 7-8) at the Mountaineer Open in Boone, N.C.
