Elon’s Oram Sets Program-Record in Women’s Track and Field 3,000-Meters at High Point Team Challenge

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Senior Allyson Oram set a new school-record in the 3,000-meters to highlight a number of great results for the Elon University women’s track and field team at the High Point Challenge on Thursday evening, Feb. 6. Oram broke her own program-record in the 3K by nearly 17 seconds inside the JDL Fast Track Indoor facility.

Oram finished fourth overall in the race and was joined by Tereza Novotna and Elyse Bierut on the program’s top-five list in the event. Novotna clocked a time of 9:55.19 to become the second-fastest performer in school history and was seventh overall. Bierut ran a time of 10:07.88 to finish in the top-10 overall and as the fourth-best performer on the program’s all-time list.

“We ran five distance girls and had five personal-records today,” said Elon head cross country and assistant track and field coach Christine Engel. “It was a great effort by a small group tonight and they came out and ran aggressively and ran really well, especially the 3K group. Overall it was a great night on the distance side of things.”
