HPU Men’s Basketball Game Vs. Campbell To Be On ESPNU Feb. 28

The High Point University men’s basketball team’s regular-season finale against Campbell has been selected to be televised on ESPNU. It’s the second HPU home game selected for ESPNU this season and the date will change from March 1 to Friday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. to accommodate the broadcast schedule.

High Point is currently leading the Big South North Division with a 6-3 record and Campbell sits one game back at 5-4 in the North Division. The Camels got the best of the Panthers in the teams’ first meeting, a 74-71 Campbell win on Jan. 8 in Buies Creek, N.C.

High Point is on a four-game winning streak and has won six of its last seven games.

The Panthers are coming off a 77-74 victory over Coastal Carolina on Wednesday. Down 74-73, HPU junior Devante Wallace stole the ball and hit a layup with 34 seconds remaining (WATCH: http://youtu.be/GydOBkBjIbA). Sophomore Haiishen McIntyre hit two free throws with 11 seconds on the clock to seal the victory. Wallace scored 17 points and went 3-for-3 from three-point range while redshirt-sophomore John Brown scored a team-high 19 points with seven rebounds in the win. Coastal is now tied for the Big South South Division lead.

High Point was on national TV twice earlier this season. HPU’s game against Georgetown on Dec. 5 in Washington D.C. was televised live on Fox Sports 1. The Panthers’ home game against Radford on Jan. 10 was on ESPNU. HPU has also been on ESPN3 four times.

The Panthers are looking to defend their Big South North Division title from a year ago. High Point went 12-3 in conference play to win the division in 2012-13. It was HPU’s first Big South title (regular season or tournament) in men’s basketball since joining the league in 1999-2000.
