Baseball
Meet the Phoenix Dinner, Thursday, Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m., The Cutting Board
Elon vs. Cincinnati, Friday-Sunday, Feb. 14-16 at 4/2/1:30 p.m., Latham Park

• As baseball season approaches, Elon will once again host its annual Meet the Phoenix Dinner at The Cutting Board restaurant in Burlington, N.C. For $15 ($10 for children 12 and under), fans can have dinner with the Phoenix team, hear from coaches and have a chance to win door prizes. To reserve a spot, contact Carl Hairston at ghairston@elon.edu.
• Both the Southern Conference media and coaches selected the maroon and gold to finish fourth in the league in 2014. The Phoenix has finished no lower than a tie for third just once in its previous 10 seasons in the league.
• Senior second baseman Sebastian Gomez was a preseason first-team all-league pick by the SoCon’s coaches.
• Elon will open the 2014 season at home against Cincinnati on Friday. Elon is 1-0 all-time against the Bearcats, having claimed a 6-3 victory in 1964.

Men’s Basketball (14-11, 7-3 SoCon)

Elon vs. Samford, Saturday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m., Alumni Gym

• Winners of four straight, Elon returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Furman before returning home on Saturday, Feb. 15, to host Samford.
• Jack Isenbarger proved to be the hero on Saturday night, Feb. 8, in Alumni Gym, as his three-pointer with 0.7 seconds left lifted Elon to a 60-59 win over Georgia Southern. Elon rallied from eight points down in the second half and overcame a lackluster shooting performance to escape with the win.
• Ryley Beaumont scored his 1,000th career point in a win over UNCG on Feb. 6, becoming the fourth current player on Elon’s roster to reach the career milestone. Elon joins North Dakota State as the only team in college basketball that has four current players with 1,000 career points on its team.

Men’s Golf
Elon at the Triangle Individual, Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 15-16, Chapel Hill and Raleigh, N.C.

• Four Elon players will get the Phoenix’s spring season started by playing at the Triangle Individual co-hosted by North Carolina and NC State on Saturday and Sunday.
• This event is an individual tournament and not a team scoring format.

Men’s Tennis (3-1)
Elon vs. Campbell, Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m., Jimmy Powell Tennis Center
Elon vs. Greensboro, Sunday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m., Jimmy Powell Tennis Center

• Elon finishes out it’s first home stand of the young season this week with afternoon matches against Campbell on Wednesday, Feb.12, and against Greensboro Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
• The Phoenix won their second-straight match last time out with a 5-2 win Friday, Feb. 7, at home against UNC Asheville. The match was moved up a day due to inclement weather and Elon’s other match of the weekend against Norfolk State was canceled. Cameron Silverman and Jordan Kauftman each picked up their team-leading fourth wins of the season in the victory.
• Currently, Elon sits No. 47 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings while Silverman is No. 25 nationally. New rankings will be released tomorrow, Feb. 11.

Softball (3-0-1)

• The Phoenix welcomes North Carolina to Hunt Softball Park for the first time in its home opener on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 4 p.m.
• Elon went undefeated in its season-opening weekend tournament, the Charleston Southern Tournament. The Phoenix defeated UNC Wilmington, 8-3, on Saturday, swept Maryland Eastern Shore, 9-0 and 11-0, before battling host Charleston Southern to a 5-5 score in the finale as the game was called due to darkness.
• Elon hit 11 home runs over the weekend with sophomore Emily Cameron leading the way with four. The Kennesaw, Ga., native batted .545 with 10 RBI in her four games over the weekend.
• Elon will travel to Florida for a two-day trip at the Hatter Invitational beginning on Friday, Feb. 14. The Phoenix will play Campbell and host Stetson on the opening day on Friday before finishing the tournament on Saturday with a rematch vs. the Camels and a match with Bethune-Cookman on Saturday, Feb. 15.

Women’s Basketball (10-12, 5-6 SoCon)
Elon vs. Davidson, Monday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m., Alumni Gym

• Elon recorded its second straight victory with a strong 85-60 win over Georgia Southern on Saturday in its annual Play 4Kay game. The Phoenix is now 8-3 in Alumni Gym this season.
• Jenifer Rhodes posted a career-high 20 points along with another career-high nine field goals against Georgia Southern. The rookie is currently the top-scoring freshman in the league, averaging 9.8 points per game.
• The Phoenix has another home game today against Davidson in Alumni Gym before traveling to Western Carolina on Saturday.

Women’s Lacrosse (0-1)
Elon vs. Longwood, Friday, Feb. 14, at 4 p.m., Rhodes Stadium

• Elon played its first ever game on Friday at No. 6 Duke. The Blue Devils won the game, 25-4, but the Phoenix saw signs of future success with goals from four different players, won 11 draws, went 7-of-11 in clear attempts and picked up 11 ground balls. Goalie Rachel Ramirez finished with five saves in the game.
• Attack Sloane Kessler scored the first goal in Elon women’s lacrosse program history in the first three minutes of the game at Duke, evening the score at the time, 1-1.
• The Phoenix will play at home for the first time on Friday, Feb. 14, in Rhodes Stadium against Longwood.

Women’s Tennis (1-4)

Elon vs. UNC Wilmington, Friday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m., Jimmy Powell Tennis Center

• Fresh off its first win of the season, the Phoenix welcomes Campbell and UNC Wilmington to the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center this week on Wednesday, Feb. 12, and Friday, Feb. 14, respectively.
• Elon picked up its first win in five matches Saturday, Feb. 8, against visiting North Carolina Central. It was the fourth time in program history the Phoenix played NCCU. Each match against the Eagles has gone in Elon’s favor by way of a 7-0 sweep.
• Following this week’s action, the Phoenix will stay home for six more contests before hitting the road again March 6 against East Carolina. The final game of that stretch comes March 1 when the team opens Southern Conference action against Georgia Southern.

Women’s Track and Field
Elon at Liberty Quad, Friday, Feb. 14, Lynchburg, Va.

• The maroon and gold travels back to the campus of Liberty for the Liberty Quad on Friday, Feb. 14, for the first time since winning the Liberty Open in its last visit on Jan. 18.
• Elon competed at the High Point Challenge this past Thursday, Feb. 6, at the JDL Fast Track Indoor facility. Various members of the team set new personal-records and mark at the meet, while Sydney Griffin (60-meter hurdles) and Bria Bell (200-meters) took home individual titles in their respective events.
• Senior Allyson Oram broke her own school record in the 3,000-meters with a time of 9:41.12, finishing third overall. Tereza Novotna and Elyse Bierut joined Oram in the top-five all-time at Elon in the race with times of 9:55.19 and 10:07.88, respectively.
