Make-up games could get a little bit crazy

Very good post by Don Moore from earlier today, on how they plan to make up the missed basketball games that will not happen tonight and then again on Friday night….In Charlotte they adopted the policy “if we can’t play Friday, then we move everything to Saturday and then if you can’t play on Saturday, you try again on Monday”…

Rick Strunk, from the NCHSAA, in Don’s post even said they may have to make up some of the regional wrestling matches on Sunday….

I spoke with Ren Stewart, the head girls basketball coach at Caldwell Academy, this afternoon and he said if the TAC/Triad Athletic Conference can not continue on Friday, his girls team could well be playing a semifinal and finals game on the same day, on Saturday….

Have not heard of that one before, you play the semifinals and finals on the same day…That is a little bit crazy….I have seen that in youth soccer tournaments, but don’t remember seeing that in basketball…Maybe in an AAU tournament, but not in school ball…Can you imagine seeing and ACC Women’s Tournament playing the semifinals and finals on the same day?????

That would be just a little bit crazy at the ACC Women’s Tournament in Greensboro and it might get a little bit crazy this weekend and could be that it will get crazier in the upcoming week…..

The Caldwell girls and the TAC would be forced to finish the TAC Tourney on Saturday with semis and finals and the reason is, their State Tournament begins next Tuesday……

Here is the word on the make-up game happenings from Langston Wertz Jr. by way of the Charlotte Observer on-line at www.charlotteoserver.com…

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are out Thursday and all athletic activities are canceled. That’s pushed games scheduled for Thursday to Friday.

CMS athletics director Sue Doran said if school is out Friday, those games would move to Saturday. Doran also said games could get pushed to Monday if conditions don’t improve.

CMS conference tournaments are scheduled to begin Monday, but if regular-season games are pushed back, the conference tournament schedule likely would be altered.

Word on the street is that the Dudley vs SEG game will be on Monday night with the Metro conference tournament starting on Tuesday night.

  • Tourney canceled said,

I’ve heard that The TAC tournament has been canceled. Teams will find out Sunday what seed they will be in the state tournament.

Now that sure is getting a little crazy and a big turn of events too….
