Brian Robinson(Bishop McGuinness girls basketball coach) named National Coach of the Year

Brian Robinson of Bishop McGuinness was named the 2013 State Coach of the Year in girls basketball by the National Federation of State High School Associations in an announcement released this month.

In a memorable year, Robinson guided McGuinness to its eighth straight NCHSAA 1-A championship last March. He followed that by working as an assistant coach on USA Basketball’s U-16 national team, which won a gold medal in summer competition in Cancun, Mexico.

Robinson also was included on the list of “100 Coaches to Remember” by the NCHSAA and started coaching an adult wheelchair basketball team, the Triad Trackers.

Robinson, in his 12th season at McGuinness, has a record of 295-64 with the Villains
