Elon’s Jansaker Named SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Thanks to her efforts Monday, Feb. 17, against UNC Wilmington, Frida Jansaker of the Elon University women’s tennis team has been named the Southern Conference’s Student-Athlete of the Week by the league office today, Feb. 19.

Jansaker was one of four Elon players to win her singles match against the Seahawks to help the Phoenix earn a 4-3 victory at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. She topped Olga Blank at No. 2 singles to pull Elon even with UNCW after the Phoenix fell in an early 2-0 hole.

The senior from Kristianstad, Sweden, also partnered with Maria Camara Ruiz at No. 2 doubles to earn Elon’s only doubles win of the match against the Seahawks.

Jansaker currently holds a 3.85 GPA in Finance and Management. She is the fourth Elon student-athlete to earn the award this academic year with Nathan Dean of the men’s soccer team, Sam Coffer of the women’s basketball team and Brian Kowalski of the men’s tennis team each previously earning the award.

Elon’s next match comes Saturday afternoon, Feb. 22, against Radford. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. Elon’s other match scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. against North Carolina A&T was cancelled.
