Elon’s Troutman Tabbed SoCon Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Elon University men’s basketball senior forward Lucas Troutman has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday, Feb. 25.

Troutman averaged 18.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and shot 56 percent from the field as Elon earned three wins last week. The senior improved his production as the week progressed as he began with 13 points and nine rebounds at UNCG before tallying 20 points and six rebounds in a 66-61 win over Georgia Southern on Saturday. Troutman capped the week with 23 points and seven rebounds at Furman on Monday night. The Belton, S.C., native added seven blocked shots last week and now ranks sixth all-time in the SoCon with 207 career blocked shots. Troutman ranks seventh in the league in scoring this season (16.0 ppg) and is ninth in rebounds (6.4 rpg).

Troutman joins teammates Tanner Samson and Sebastian Koch as players that have earned league player of the week laurels this season.

Elon returns to action at home on Thursday night, Feb. 27, against Wofford. Tip is set for 7 p.m. inside Alumni Gym.
