Devan Gregory(Dudley High School/Greensboro College) named USA South Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year and named Second Team All-Conference

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) – The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2013-14 All-Conference awards for men’s basketball. A total of 25 student-athletes have been named to the USA South All-Conference teams. Maryville’s Jaumonee Byrd was named Player of the Year while his coach, Randy Lambert earned Coach of the Year honors. Greensboro College’s Devan Gregory collected Rookie of the Year accolades to round out the individual awards. Finally, the USA South recognized an All-Sportsmanship Team consisting of one member from each competing school. All awards are voted on by the men’s basketball coach at each institution.

Gregory, a Greensboro, North Carolina freshman guard, led all USA South rookies by averaging 15.0 points per game during regular season play. He also averaged 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals per contest this season. His 80.7 free-throw percentage currently ranks second in the Conference while his 375 points scored rank seventh in the League. During Conference-action only, Gregory ranked in the top-five in field goals, free throws, free throw percentage, points scored and points per game. For his efforts, Gregory collected second team All-Conference honors and earned USA South Rookie of the Week accolades five times this winter.
