Greensboro College Pride Women’s Lacrosse Rolls Past Scotties to Open Conference Play

DECATUR, GA—The Greensboro College Pride women’s lacrosse team opened their 2014 USA South schedule with a 21-1 victory against Agnes Scott on Saturday afternoon.

Greensboro College controlled the game from the opening draw as Alexa Besch took a feed from Nadya Fedun and put the Pride up 1-0 only 17 seconds into the game. The Pride were able to add nine more goals before the half with Kristin Norris tallying three goals, and Besch adding two more to go into the intermission up by a 10-0 margin.

After the halftime break, it was much of the same as Greensboro scored three times before the Scotties were able to get on the board trailing 13-1. After the Agnes Scott goal, the Pride had eight different player to put the ball in the back of the net for the 21-1 victory.

Kirstin Norris had five goals on the day and one assist while Nadya Fedun, Kayla Gonzalez, and Devan Marcheras added two goals apiece.

Greensboro College held a decisive 18-4 advantage in draw controls, with Fedun possessing a team high five. The Pride also held a 40-5 margin in shots with Norris firing off eight to lead Greensboro.

Kaleigh Hemstock moved to 2-1 in goal for the Pride on the season only playing 35 minutes in the net before she was relieved by Dominique Jordan.

With the win, the Pride moves to 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in USA South conference play. The Greensboro women’s lacrosse will return to USA South action again tomorrow when they take on the Lions of Piedmont College in Demorest, GA. The first draw of the game is set for 1:00 pm.
