Senior October Campbell made sure the High Point Andrews girls’ basketball team played into March.

Campbell scored 23 points, including nine in the fourth quarter, to help the seventh-seeded Raiders pull away from No. 2 Northside on Friday night in the sectional finals of the NCHSAA 2-A playoffs.

Campbell only had one field goal in the fourth quarter, but was 7 of 8 from the free throw line in the final eight minutes to help Andrews win and advance to East Regional semifinals.

The Raiders (21-5) will play sixth-seeded and defending state champion Kinston (24-2) on Wednesday – time TBA –at the Crown Arena in Fayetteville. Kinston beat No. 3 Bertie 64-55 on Friday.

“October is one of those kids who works hard and so you love to see her benefit from her work ethic,” Andrews coach John Shearin said. “We usually want the ball in Imani Watkins’ hands, but she had a rough game and actually fouled out. But that’s a joy about coaching a team. A player goes down and you have somebody step in and put the team on her shoulders, and October did that.”
