Powerade State Games High School Soccer Coaches Announced

Registration is open and tryouts are scheduled to begin

DURHAM, North Carolina, February 28, 2014 – The Powerade State Games High School Soccer Showcase will take place June 21-22 at Queens University. Some of the best boys and girls soccer players in the state will tryout to represent their region at the High School Soccer Showcase. The Showcase features six boys teams and four girls teams comprised of rising Juniors and Seniors (classes of 2015 & 2016).

The coaches have been selected for each regional team and are listed below with their high school in parentheses and the head coach listed first:

Girls West – Jason Dragoon (E. Lincoln)

Girls South – Victor Johnson (Union Academy), Joy Niessner (CATA)

Girls North – Dolin McDavid (Hoke County), Bennie Howard (Richmond), Cassandra Urriola (Hokce County)

Girls East – Leshaun Jenkins (Tarboro), Bryan Martinez (Hobbton)

Boys West – Angelo Palozzi (Newton Conover), David Fiest (Owen), Daniel Prouty (Alexander Central), Freddy Oviedo (Hendersonville)

Boys South – Timothy Long (Providence), Matthew Merrill (Olympic), Joe Johnson (West Charlotte), Steve Hancock (Sun Valley)

Boys Midwest –Will Hurley (Mount Airy), Sean Fitzgibbon (Randleman), Danny Villa (Morehead), Jay Benfield (Mount Tabor)

Boys Central – Alix Charles (Ravenscroft), Eric Long (Triton)

The Powerade State Games of North Carolina is gearing up for another year of exciting competition in the Charlotte region. The 28th annual Powerade State Games begin on May 31st and conclude on June 29th and covers the entirety of Mecklenburg County and beyond, with competitions taking place in Mooresville, Huntersville, Cornelius, Cramerton, Charlotte, Indian Trail, Pineville, Concord and Matthews. The 2014 Opening Ceremonies will be held June 20 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord. The Opening Ceremonies feature a commemorative gift for participating athletes, inflatables, games, music, a parade of athletes and a lighting of the cauldron to announce the official start to the 2014 Powerade State Games of North Carolina.
