Elon’s Troutman and Koch Earn All-SoCon Men’s Basketball Honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Elon men’s basketball seniors Lucas Troutman and Sebastian Koch earned All-Southern Conference honors today, March 4, as the league office released the coaches and media awards. Troutman was a first-team selection by the media and was named to the 10-member All-SoCon coaches’ team. Koch was a third-team selection by the media.

Troutman has started 30 games for Elon this season. He ranks eighth in the league in scoring (16.1 points per game) and ninth in rebounding (6.3 rebounds per game). Troutman is shooting 53.4 percent from the field this season, which ranks sixth in the conference. The league’s active leader in career blocks with 211, Troutman currently averages 1.9 blocks per game (56 total this season), which ranks second in the SoCon. Troutman was named the SoCon Player of the Week on Feb. 25 after leading Elon to wins over UNCG, Georgia Southern and Furman. Troutman has tallied a total of eight games with 20+ points this season and has led the Phoenix in scoring 13 times this season.

Koch has ranked among the league leaders in three-point shooting this season. The Munich, Germany, native currently ranks fourth in the league in threes made with 77 and fourth in three-point field goal percentage (43.3 percent). Koch, who currently averages 11.8 points per game, was named the SoCon Player of the Week on Dec. 17 after scoring a career-high 27 points at 21st-ranked Colorado on Dec. 13. Koch connected on nine threes in the game, the most in a single game during Elon’s Division I era. Koch has scored in double figures 18 times this season and has led the Phoenix in scoring on six occasions this year. Koch has led the maroon and gold in assists 13 times this season and ranks 12th in the conference in assists per game.
