Ragsdale senior Matt Horkey got the start against Reagan and went five innings to pick up the win. Horkey gave up a first inning solo home run to Reagan’s Mitch Price and gave up an unearned run in the fourth to collect his first win of 2014. Horkey struck out 9 batters and only allowed 4 base hits. He also helped himself at the plate, going 3 for 3 with a double and driving in a run.

Trailing 2 – 0 going to the bottom of the fourth, Ragsdale had only been able to collect two hits against Reagan starter Jacob Hartle. When he gave up a one out single in the fourth, he was pulled for a reliever and the Tigers put together five more hits to score five runs to take the lead. Horkey, Kip Brandenburg and Taylor Still all had doubles in the inning.

Kennan Lynn came on in relief in the fifth with one run in and runners on second and third and no outs. He got out of the inning with out allowing another run and then pitched around an error in the seventh to pick up the save.

Ragsdale is at home on Friday, March 7 @ 6:00 PM to face Southwestern Randolph

  1. Good game, less a few errors.

Jacob Hartle was dominant on the mound for Reagan through 4, giving up only 2 hits. No one was touching him. You will hear that name again this year. Kid threw smoke. Hats off to their coach for not letting him throw too many pitches this early in the year, especially in a non-conference game.

Ragsdale hit very well and with power after the pitching change. May be the best hitting team Ragsdale has had in 4-5 years. Horkey pitched well, threw lots of strikes and kept Reagan of balance.
