GREENSBORO, N.C. – E’leyna Garcia (Plantation, Fla./Pine Crest Prep) tied the school record with 11 points in Guilford College’s 23-12 lacrosse victory over visiting Greensboro College Wednesday night. She collected nine goals, two assists and a career-best 13 draw controls in the Quakers’ second game in less than 24 hours.

Guilford’s 23 goals rank second in school history and the Quakers’ most in a game since scoring a record 25 times versus Trinity in 1997.

Garcia, who had 10 goals and an assist in a 2013 win over Catawba College, shares the school scoring standard with classmate Lily Colley, who notched five goals and six assists in a win over Bridgewater College last season. Mary Hutchins ’08 set the mark in 2007 with seven goals and four assists versus the College of Wooster.

Garcia, a senior attacker, had five goals in the first half, three in a 7-1 run to start the game. Kristin Norris had three of her team-high seven tallies in the half to rally Greensboro back into the game. Her goal with 5:12 left in the half made it a 7-6 Guilford lead. Garcia scored two more free-position goals and Guilford held a 9-7 intermission lead.

Guilford’s 6-2 run to start the second half opened a 15-9 lead with 20:38 to play. Norris scored four times in the second half, but the Pride could not keep pace. The Quakers won 12 second-half draws and goalie Sammi Milbourn made four of her seven saves to prevent a Greensboro rally. Guilford outscored the Pride, 5-0, in the game’s final 11 minutes.

The Quakers’ Lily Colley added six points on five goals and an assist, plus six ground balls and three caused turnovers. Her twin sister, Becca, had four goals and one assist. Eleanora Keene scored three times.

Norris paced the Pride (2-3) with seven goals and six draw controls. Five other Greensboro scored single goals, including Ashlynn Parks, who also had three ground balls and four draws. Kaleigh Hemstock made 10 saves in goal.

The Quakers entertain Wittenberg University Saturday (3/8) at 4:00 p.m.
