Page ran out to an early 7-0 lead in this game, as Jeremy Harris got the Pirates started from the field and then Ty Graves hit a long three-pointer, and Page soon led by 11 points in the first half, but by halftime, the Lions of West Charlotte, had tied this contest up at 35-35….

In the crucial 4th quarter Page hit six key free throws down the stretch, with two from Xavier Hill-Mais, two from Anthony Eaves and then two more from Jeremy Harris to seal the game, with the final of 69-63….The two by Eaves were especially big, as those two tosses made the score 67-63 and with the four-point lead, Page did not have to look back again….It all started with 14.4 seconds remaining and Page wasn’t about to give West Charlotte any decent looks at this juncture of the ball game….

Jeremy Harris finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds and of those 10 rebounds, memory is telling me that 7 of those 10 came on the offensive end and those grabs gave Page a chance to re-set and go for the best shot, inside or out….

Excellent game on the floor from the point guard Jalen Gavin and Gavin got the ball deep and into the lane today and his dribble penetration was a big part of the Pirates’ success….Gavin was able to set the plays and run the floor for the Pirates and he had a couple of no-look passes that looked pretty good, as his teammates were converting those passes into points in the paint and at the rim…..

Page will face Lake Norman High School tomorrow/Sunday afternoon at 2pm in the Greensboro Coliseum for the NCHSAA Men’s West Region Title and then the winner of Sunday’s affair, will then travel on to Raleigh to face the Eastern rep for the State 4-A Title, on Saturday March 15….

More on this game coming here and I need to run to get some of the scoring numbers from Page out of my basketball bag and we will have those up here real soon….Until then we have Jeff Mills report for you on Page-West Charlotte, from today’s News and Record on-line…

what an exciting game. West was tough and kept coming back. Made me nervous and I think Page showed some toughness today.
