4 pm: 1-A women’s final–(6) Hayesville (29-3) vs. (2) Bishop McGuinness (27-4)
Tough loss for Page. But a great season. Hold your heads high Pirates.
Good season for the Pirates. Only 3 losses on the year. Lost to a great Greensboro Day team and a great Lake Norman team who both played for state championship game. Lost a heated conference rivalry game in Dudley Good season.
Running the table against Grimsley never hurts, either! Just like football…..
X getting T while Pirates up 4 and after committing a shooting foul gave LM 4 FT’s and ball with less than 5 to go help sink Pirates. 3 ball that banked in after the final buzzer stunned all fans. There was no review. Refs ran out building. Unbelievable!
Wasn’t at the game but I saw Page was down 17 at half. What was the difference? Saw they closed the gap completely in 3Q. Looks like Page outplayed in 2nd half and Lake Norman outplayed in 1st half.
Tough lost for Page, made good comeback but I know they were tired after yesterday tough game, Lake Norman had the fresh legs and showed. Only 3 seniors on this Page squad, they’ll be good again next year.
Page down 17 at half after being tied at 18. They must of hit 8 or so 3’s. Probably 5 or 6 in a row. They only shot 1 in 2nd half- the one at buzzer. Page played solid man to man D to come and take away 3’s. Opened on 18-0 run and had game in hand but….. Could not finish. LN held ball for last shot with 2 mins to go after pirates lost ball out of bounds. Tough loss.
