College Men’s Golf Results – Guilford Leads After 36 Holes at TaylorMade adidas Intercollegiate

DATAW ISLAND, S.C. – Four Guilford College men’s golfers sit among the top-11 individuals after Monday’s first two rounds of the TaylorMade adidas Intercollegiate at the Dataw Island Golf Club. The Quakers hold a 13-stroke lead over second-place Hampden-Sydney College in the 14-team field after shooting 294-301-595 after Monday’s 36 holes on the par-72, 6,789-yard layout. Concordia (Texas) University holds third at 300-315-615.

Guilford freshman Tanner Gross (Archdale, N.C./Home School) sits third in the 90-man field after shooting two-over-par 74-72-146 for 36 holes. He trails leader Brian Burt of Hampden-Sydney, who shot the day’s low round, a three-under 69 in the day’s second circuit for a two-round 143. Burt holds a two-stroke edge over Michal Prospal of the University of The Cumberlands, who shot 75-70-145 Monday.

The Quakers’ Ty Palmer (Kernersville, N.C./Forsyth Country Day) delivered a 73-75-148, which stands sixth overall. He is two shots in front of teammate Drew Thompson (74-76-150). Guilford senior Dallas Page (Reidsville, N.C./Rockingham County (Averett)) shares 11th place after carding a 73-78-151. Teammate Mitch Robinette, playing as an individual, also has a piece of 11th after his 74-77-151 Monday.

The 54-hole tournament concludes Tuesday. It features five teams ranked among the top-25 schools listed in the current Golfstat.com NCAA Division III Relative Rankings, including second-ranked Wittenberg University, which holds fifth place after Monday’s play. The Tigers are also ranked first in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Division III Coaches’ Poll. Coach Corey Maggard’s Quakers are ranked sixth in the poll and fifth according to Golfstat.
