Crawford, a 6-3, 195-pound right-hander, tossed eight strong innings in the second game of Guilford’s first road doubleheader sweep of league-rival Washington and Lee University since 2008. He scattered six hits, fanned three and did not walk a batter in Guilford’s 4-2 win. Crawford retired 17 of the last 18 batters he faced, including 16 straight later in the game.

Saturday’s victory evened Crawford’s record at 2-2 and lowered his earned run average to 4.65 in six appearances, four starts. He ranks sixth in the ODAC with 31 innings pitched this season and his 17 strikeouts mark the league’s 21st-highest total. Crawford has walked just three batters this season.

Coach Nick Black’s ’02 Quakers (10-9, 4-2 ODAC) host league-rival Lynchburg College Wednesday (3/19) at 3:00 p.m. in a game rescheduled from March 9 and March 12. Guilford visits Bridgewater College Saturday (3/22) in an ODAC doubleheader before returning home to host Roanoke College in a 3:00 p.m. home game Sunday (3/23).
