Elon’s Esposito Named SoCon Track Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Elon University women’s track and field sophomore Jennifer Esposito was named the Southern Conference’s Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office on Wednesday, March 19.

This is the first league weekly accolade for Esposito after she won the 400-meter hurdles title in the Phoenix’s first outdoor meet of the season at the UNC Wilmington Seahawk Invitational last Saturday, March 15. The Mansfield, Mass., native clocked a time of 1:01.38 in the race, the second-fastest performance in school history.

Esposito also helped the women’s 4×400-meter relay team earn a second-place standing with a combined time of 3:52.51. She also competed in the 100-meter hurdles and had a time of 15.20 for fourth overall.

Esposito and the maroon and gold will return to competition on March 28-29 at the Raleigh Relays on the campus of NC State.
