  1. Ragsdale defeated Randleman 3-2 in the 8th inning. Undefeated Ragsdale goes on to play NWG at 7pm tomorrow night

  2. Southeast – 9 Northwest – 0
Devin Sweet – complete game shutout
    Zack Canada – 2 for 4 HR, triple, 3 RBI 2 RS
Ryne Stanley – triple 2 RBI 2 RS

  3. Final
    Southeast Guilford 9
    Northwest Guilford 0

    WP – Devin Sweet (3-0) 1 Save

    Southeast is now 5-2 (1-0)

  4. I hate the way schedules are done with conference and non-conference mixed in. It would be so much more competitive to put all non-conference games together at the start of the season. Then teams wouldn’t have to “save” their better pitchers for upcoming conference games. Case in point, SE and NW. According to Maxpreps, SE does not play again until next week. NW plays an undefeated Ragsdale conference game tomorrow. This game tonight had the makings for a great game if NW wasn’t playing tomorrow. Instead you get a 9 to zip blowout. Maybe the NCHSAA should require teams to play their non-conference games up front. Just my opinion.

  5. It is true that SE doesn’t have a game till next week and they were able to run out their best arm in Sweet, but to say NW was saving pitching just isn’t true. They started a UNC Signee in Bellenkas and followed that up with a D1 pitching recruit in Aker. SE swung the bats. Very simple.

  6. You post often and come across as a knowledgeable baseball fan but you are way off base with this one. Northwest is one of the best teams in the area and are six deep in pitching. They started UNC Commit Belinkes and Southeast was up 4-0 after the first. Junior Cole Aker came in in the third and is one of the hardest throwers in the area and will pitch in college. Northwest has UNCA commit Jesse Juday and Phiffer commit Colson Everrit ready to go tomorrow night. Southeast won because Devin Sweet pithed a complete game gem and their bats were good tonight not because Northwest was saving pitching.

  7. Southern Guilford is deadly folks, watch out.
    Excellent infield….best they’ve had.
Evan Edwards hit a 2 shot home run
    Dustin Shackelford a solo
Austin Kallam went 2-4 with 3 RBIs
Top of this line up will get ya

  8. No one has been talking about the Cowboys. Very young team that’s playing very very well right now

  9. Private schools not get any love on here? HPCA 12 – 0 against Woodberry Forest (Virginia ) last night. Levi Gesell had 7 rbi’s – 3 run hr , grand slam , & 2b. Pretty good night. Zack Mclean 2b, HR. Dylan Wilkinson 2-3- 2b. Several other key contributors. Fresman Josh Nifong pitched for HPCA.
    Play Reagan today
Double header @ home Saturday vs. Wilson Hall .

  10. Softball

    SEG – 3
    SWR – 13
    5 innings
    Cherie Doty – LP
Hitting leaders were Cheri Doty 1 for 2 with a double and 2 rbi’s, Emma Strouth 1 for 2 with a triple and a rbi, and Anna Hessenthaler 1 for 3 with a double. The Lady Falcons will start conference play today at Page.

  11. Glad we studied that Ragsdale-Randleman box score carefully….Interesting to see the 2-2 final that showed up in the News and Record, but that can happen….Just glad we didn’t have it get us last night and may have helped that our MiFi was running a bit slow, sometimes we are a bit slow too….Still was kind of wild to see that 2-2 final….But you got to tell yourself, it can happen….
