Ragsdale defeated Randleman in extra innings on Thursday night on back to back balk calls as the winning run crossed the plate when Cesar Trejo scored from third base in the bottom of the eighth.

Ragsdale had gotten on the scoreboard in the first on base hits from Niko Orfanedes, Ben Fischer and Cesar Trejo with Trejo picking up the RBI. Randleman answered in the top of the second as a leadoff walk by Spencer Dixon and an RBI base hit by Bailey Welch tied up the game at one. Ragsdale got the go ahead run in the fifth as Matt Horkey who had walked, scored form first on a Trejo triple to right field.

Needing a run to extend the game, Randleman found a way to score in the seventh. Welch led off with a base hit, was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and got to third on a fielder’s choice. Caleb Webster then delivered a two out infield single to deep short to score Welch with the tying run.

The game went to the eight and Ragsdale got the first two men on as Horkey and Trejo singled. A bunt back to the pitcher led to a force out at third leaving runners still on first and second. The pitcher faked a pick-off and was called for a balk moving the runners to second and third and Randleman loaded them up with an intentional walk. With Trejo at third, he faked a move down the line and the pitcher stopped his wind up and was called for another balk, forcing him in with the winning run.

Kip Brandenburg pitched two innings of shut out ball in the sixth and eight innings to pick up the win for Ragsdale.

Ragsdale is at home Friday, 3/22 to face Northwest Guilford at 7:00 PM in the Piedmont Triad Conference opener for both teams.
