College Men’s Golf News – Guilford’s Robinette Named ODAC Player of the Week

FOREST, Va. – Guilford College’s Mitch Robinette (Charlotte, N.C./Grace Academy) earned the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s Men’s Golf Player of the Week Award Monday. The junior earned the league’s weekly prize for the first time this season and the third time in his career. He is the second Quaker so honored this year.

Robinette paced the Quakers with a 14th-place finish at the 40-man Panther Invitational March 17-18 in Palm Bay, Fla. Playing as an individual, Robinette shot 75-75-82-232 in the 54-hole tournament at the par-72 Majors Golf Club. He had the best NCAA Division III score as Guilford was the lone Division III team represented among five NCAA Division II schools.

Robinette played in his second straight spring event and delivered a second top-16 performance. His solid play has lowered his season stroke average to 78.25 strokes per round, which ranks seventh on the team.

Coach Corey Maggard’s Quakers return to the links March 27-30 at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate. Guilford is ranked fifth in the latest Golfstat.com NCAA Division III Relative Ranking and sixth in the latest GolfWorld/Nike Golf Division III Coaches Poll.
