College Men’s Golf Results – Guilford Shoots 303 at MFCU Intercollegiate

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – Guilford College’s men’s golf team shot 303 in Friday’s first round of the 43rd Marine Federal Credit Union Intercollegiate Golf Championship.

The Quakers were among 16 teams to play the par-72, 7,040-yard Gold Course at the Paradise Point Golf Club Friday. Sparked by Tanner Gross’s one-over 63, Guilford shot 303 and had the third-lowest score on the course. North Carolina Wesleyan (300) and Ferrum College (302) had the two low scores in Friday’s first round.

The remaining 16 teams played the par-70, 6,120-yard Scarlet Course where defending tournament champion Oglethorpe had the low round with a 271. The Stormy Petrels’ Anthony Maccaglia blistered the course with a seven-under 63. Talladega College’s Drake Mosley also shot 63.

The teams will switch courses on Saturday and the low 16 squads advance to Sunday’s final round on the Gold Course.

Guilford, ranked fourth in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf NCAA Division III Coaches’ Poll and sixth in the latest Golfstat.com Top 25 Relative Rankings, won the Intercollegiate in 1985, 1987 and 1989.
