Greensboro native ‘Sweet Lou’ Hudson in grave condition after suffering a stroke in Atlanta

Many feel ‘Sweet Lou’ Hudson is the best pure shooter to ever come out of Greensboro, N.C…. Better than Fred Neal, better than Bob McAdoo and better than Danny Manning…The best shooter to come through the Gate City is what we have heard many times over the years, and now Lou Hudson is on his death bed, after suffering a severe stroke in Atlanta, Georgia…This was not the first stroke for Hudson and this time his chances for survival appear to be slim…Hudson is on life support and he is in bad shape and he needs your prayers…If you know the Hudson family, or if you remember ‘Sweet Lou’, lift him up in your thoughts and prayers this weekend….He was ‘The Man’ and still is ‘The Man’ until he gets called in for the final time and then he will be at his home court for all future games of his career…Time is getting short and we all remember watching him light it up for the Atlanta Hawks and then for the LA Lakers at the end of his career…In many ways like McAdoo, ‘Sweet Lou’ was a scorer….Ball in his hands, ball in the net….Check out some of his numbers, as read some of the key links below…..

Jeff Mills of the News and Record, on this story locally and here is the brief word from Jefe Mills and then we have the links that will follow Jeff’s work from the N&R….www.news-record.com

Lou Hudson, one of the best basketball players in Greensboro’s history, is in an Atlanta hospital on life support after suffering a severe stroke.

Hudson, 69, was a four-sport star at Dudley High, graduating in 1962. He played college basketball at Minnesota, and he was the fourth overall pick in the 1966 NBA draft by the then-St. Louis Hawks.
